Before submitting an application for a career opportunity, please consider the following:

An applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada
As a condition of employment, past and current references will be contacted
Criminal, financial and/or driver's licence checks may be required depending on the position
Education verification may be required. Applicants educated in or outside the Province of Ontario can obtain equivalency assessments. Such services can include World Education Services or International Credential Assessment Service of Canada

How do I apply for a job?

Create an account in our Career opportunities portal to apply. You will need to register a username and password to get started. If you have already registered, log in with your username and password. To apply for a position, select Apply Now .

You will need to upload your resume and cover letter as a PDF. Please note only PDF formats are accepted.

Make sure your PDF is smaller than 5 MB and ensure that you have 1 attachment per upload. Only 2 attachments will be accepted.

Select Submit your Application. Microsoft's website has instructions for saving your word document as a PDF.

What file type can I upload?

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario will only accept files in PDF format.

My file is not uploading. What should I do?

Please check that you are using the most up-to-date version of your internet browser. Google Chrome and Firefox are the preferred internet browser platforms.

Check that your file is saved as a PDF and that it is less than 5 MB.

My file is a PDF and my browser is up to date, but I can’t upload my resume. How should I proceed?

Please contact our Web Team at web@ola.org with a screenshot of any error messages and information about your browser and operating system.

I am in the process of applying for a job and don’t know if I used the right PDF file for the upload. Is there a way I can check before submitting my application?

Yes, before submitting your application, you are able to view and edit your attachments. After submitting you will need to email hr@ola.org, identify which job you applied to and include your replacement PDF.

I accidentally uploaded and submitted the wrong file. What should I do?

Please email hr@ola.org, identify which job you applied to and include your replacement PDF.

How can I update the email address I used to register?

Register a profile with the new email address. Email hr@ola.org and let us know your old email address and your new email address. We will make the changes to move your application(s) over to your new email address and notify you.

Where can I find available employment opportunities?

Please visit our Career opportunities portal to see available opportunities.

How do I apply for a job if the deadline is passed?

Applications are collected online until 11:59 p.m. (EST) on the closing date. We cannot accept applications after the deadline has passed.

I forgot my password or username. How can I recover them?

Select forgot your password or username on the Career opportunities portal. An email with your username and a link to reset your password will be sent to the email address you used to register.

Does the Legislative Assembly have summer, contract, or part-time positions?

Yes, summer, contract, or part-time position openings are posted on the Career opportunities portal.

How will I know that my application was received?

Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation message on the screen. In addition, you will receive an email confirmation.

Please note that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Do you accept general applications?

No we do not accept general applications. We do have a section called “Future Opportunities” where we post opportunities we are continually looking to fill. If you apply to a future opportunity and we advertise a position, your application will automatically be moved to the current advertised opportunity for consideration.

What is the recruitment process?

Job advertising: Job opportunities are posted on the Career opportunities page. Applications are collected online until 11:59 p.m. (EST) on the closing date.
Application screening: Applications received by the closing date will be screened against the required qualifications and experience outlined in the job posting. Applicants whose résumé and cover letter best demonstrate how they meet the posted requirements and qualifications for a position may be invited to continue in the hiring process.
Evaluation and assessment: Depending on the position and its requirements, the interview process may include presentations and/or tests (written or practical), in addition to an interview. This process gives applicants the opportunity to show that they have the skills, qualifications, and experience needed to meet the requirements for the job.

Selection of successful candidate: Successful candidates are selected based on the results from the evaluation and assessment process.
Offer to the successful candidate: An offer will be made to the successful candidate.
