Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario’s Parliament.

Together, we provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Human Resources Branch, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable individual who possesses excellent organizational and administrative skills to join their team in Toronto, ON, as an HR Coordinator. You will report to the HR Manager and work with a dynamic HR team.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Exhibit the utmost tact, diplomacy and confidentiality at all times while demonstrating a high degree of professionalism
  • Adhere to established policies, practices and legislation
  • Follow guidelines to safeguard and/or disclose information, as appropriate
  • Exercise good judgement and initiative

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

  • Provide information to management and employees in the administration of entitlements, policies and procedures, and respond to general inquiries
  • Provide administrative and data-entry support to the HR Branch with respect to the employee life cycle, including, but not limited to, recruitment and onboarding, benefit and pension administration, the performance management process, and general HR processes
  • Participate in the coordination, organization and scheduling of HR training initiatives
  • Compile, maintain and update various employee reports and information

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Experience in HR administrative practices and procedures
  • Forward-thinking approach to all HR processes and procedures
  • Ability to adapt to different technologies and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Ability to work on a team on projects of diverse scope and impact
  • Ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations
  • Proficient English verbal and written skills to communicate with clients and produce appropriate written correspondence

The Office of the Assembly is currently in a one-year flexible workplace pilot program that will run until May 31, 2023. The program permits employees in certain positions to work some of their regular scheduled hours from a mutually agreed upon location away from the office without compromising the efficiency and effectiveness of the Office of the Assembly business or overall service delivery. Employees that are able to participate in the program understand and agree that they must be available, when requested, to be onsite as required and, as such, are required to maintain proximity within commuting distance in Ontario from the Assembly’s formal place of business at the Legislative Precinct in Toronto, Ontario. Employees may be required to return to work in the Legislative Precinct full-time at the conclusion of the pilot program.
