This Temporary Full Time Opportunity is available from May to August 2021. 

Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario’s Parliament.

Together, we provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Information Services Branch provides services to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario by capturing, organizing, preserving and managing the information assets of the Assembly. We are currently seeking a Summer Student in the Content Management team, to support a variety of projects that contribute to the service goals of the Branch.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to:

  • Work collaboratively with internal staff members
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgement in a politically sensitive environment

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

  • Apply metadata to library resources
  • Add digital copies to the library repository
  • Ensure completeness of library holdings
  • Support other projects as assigned

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

  • Experience as a College or University student, must be enrolled full time in an accredited post-secondary program for the fall/winter term (September to March), working toward a graduate library degree or library technician diploma
  • Knowledge of the principles of metadata , controlled vocabularies and their applications (knowledge of RDA and MARC 21 an asset)
  • Experience with content management systems (such as Springshare’s LibGuides and Drupal) an asset
  • Experience with acquisitions and cataloguing modules of an integrated library system (such as Voyager) an asset
  • Accuracy and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage your time
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible and adaptable
